Samir is a highly experienced hospitality industry executive, strategic growth driver and entrepreneur with over 28 years of international experience with a foundation in hospitality real estate consulting with BDO Bahrain and Arthur Andersen Middle East and over 16 years in hotel development with Marriott International. Most notably, Samir was the Chief Development Officer Middle East & Africa for Marriott International from 2013 to 2018 after serving both as VP and SVP in the organization.
He has been instrumental in leading an international team to drive Marriott’s ambitious hotel pipeline across the region achieving growth of over 45,000 rooms with iconic deals for luxury brands such as Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis and Bvlgari.
Samir was also actively involved in the integration of Starwood and the acquisition of the Protea brand by Marriott. Samir has in-depth expertise in regional hotel markets and a broad exposure to international markets; he maintains a reputable network of relationships with key stakeholders including developers, owners, operators, investment institutions and government entities.
